LOVE KNOWING LOVE

PHILOSOPHICAL QUOTES & POEMS

love is a haven

not a finishing school

desire for harmony

must come from within

Calling dedication to something a passion is notable because the expressed willingness to suffer does not portray constructive expectations.

true love may be spent

until we resent

but never does

entirely end

Love is thorny because it makes us want to possess in mutuality what possesses us. Yet the odds seem overwhelming that objects of our love will not adequately reciprocate.

Caveat amator. Love is an irrational mixture of “becauses” and “no-matter-whats” exposing us to risks of misjudgment and abuse.

if love is returned

its offer of sacrifice

will be rejected

hands we don’t lend

hearts we won’t mend

soon we will die

no one will cry

is this how we want to end

Some use love, even in its painful aspects, as a drug to distract from other concerns in their life.

Are those fixated on loving and being loved by higher beings compromising the natural need of humans to love and be loved by one another?

before you left you said

you would try to send me

a sign

of your forever true love

you already did at that time

love wants to please

criticism

an accusation

of its absence

persnickety hearts

misers of love

shriveled before death

if you would not give up everything

except love

it’s not true love

if you would not ask for anything

except love

it’s not true love

love pulls us up

from pain’s surrender

last line of defense

love

renewing hope

that entrusted life will be tended

all our life we yearn

get used to fulfillment

and yearn for something else

love can survive then only

by never being taken for granted

for someone unfamiliar

with love

it feels like an imposition

mind what you say

to those who love you

their heart takes you

at your every word

to be loved

frightens us

if we doubt us worthy

of such a commitment

it cannot last

categories of love

romantic

for family and friends

humanity

other life

nature and its provenance

different

but matching pieces

of one theme

requiring overall integration

not hating

leaves room

for love in our heart

Even if science could explain love or any other emotion and lay open its mechanisms, its sensations would remain immediately mysterious to us.

when people you love

make mistakes

be kind

or they might decide

you were one

love coarsely declined

breeds hate

an easily prevented ill

romantic love

demands one object

other varieties should be more open

We must feel compassion with everything to create the conditions for universal peace. Yet the resulting pain would be intolerable without the healing aspects of love, including forgiveness, inspiration, and trust.

If we should forget all we ever learned, we still would possess the most valuable knowledge from which and with which we were born: Love.

Sustaining love requires continual renewal. One-sided love suffers and may deplete from lack of return. Yet reciprocity creates unlimited energy.

watching you sleep

i will protect you

watching you wake

i’ll clear the clouds

loving the world

pulls us in pain

the ways it is injured

could drive us insane

but love it we must

for our salvation

and prospects

of even greater elation

the tenderest force

is also the strongest

When we love, we can sense intuitively that all is vibration.

reasons

for loving

backups for our heart

thinking why we love

is a fruitless exercise

compassion forgiveness

inspiration and trust

do not license evil

they look beyond

to peaceful harmony

and equip us to get there

in the most succinct way

take a day

for what and whom you love

then try to make it a habit

Not loving people as they are wounds them because we love someone else instead who does not exist.

we must love people

as they are

love’s not a reward for complying

it is enlightenment

for every heart

meant to send spirits flying

peace is simple

when we stop thinking

of love as a weakness

love’s affinity is cooperation

hate’s affinity is competition

his innocence was that

he loved the world

and had no fear

he was called naive

deemed a threat

or hailed for his courage

he only claimed to be finally human

humanity steeped

in senseless anguish

for nothing has value

without love

true love speaks clearly

it does not leave doubts

it does not have pride

it does not play games

people tell me

i care too much

but i don’t care

what they say

love metered

give and take

just let it out

The only real threat of death is that it ends our ability to love.

Let us describe a world governed by love and then build it.

I cannot figure why feeling love is not recognized as a sense.

driven equally

by love and fear

of not being loved

Love teaches our rational mind the essence of life.

For love impossibility does not exist.

when evil and brash

demand attention

let love and gentleness shine

the enemy traits of love are many

counter them and be redeemed

home

a big heart pumping

life through its chambers

Imagine your life without each person in it and tell those you would miss.

Life is a lover challenging us to declare what we really want.
